DRAWN!!! Australia held Asian giant ahead of Olympic qualifier

The two candidates for the 2020 AFC U23 Championship - South Korea U23 and Australia U23, drew each other in a 1-1 friendly match on the afternoon of January 3rd.

To prepare the best for the upcoming 2020 AFC U23 Championship, South Korea U23 had a training trip in Malaysia to get used to the environment in Southeast Asia. Thus, coach Kim Hak Bum's team had a friendly match with another very strong team, Australia U23 on the afternoon of January 3rd.

Previously, South Korea U23 had to cancel a friendly match with Saudi Arabia on December 31st, 2019 due to the bad weather.

The match between the two candidates for the 2020 AFC U23 Championship took place in 2 halves of 50 minutes each. Coach Kim Hak Bum created the opportunity for all 23 players to play, as he used a different lineup in each half.

South Korea U23 team had a better start in this friendly match by opening the score in the 27th minute. The scorer was striker Oh Se-hoon. However, only 4 minutes later, Australia U23's most expected young talent in this tournament, Al Hasan Toure scored to bring the game back to the starting line.

In the second half, although creating many opportunities, both teams could not score any more goals. The match ended with a score of 1-1, and this can be considered a beautiful result for a friendly match. Certainly, both South Korea U23 and Australia U23 have achieved a lot following this friendly match.

The match against Australia U23 is also the final test of coach Kim Hak Bum and his players before attending the 2020 AFC U23 Championship. It is known that on January 5th, the South Korea U23 team will fly to Thailand to get ready for the upcoming tournament.

At the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, South Korea U23 will not have the strongest squad as players in Europe such as Lee Kang In, Lee Seung Woo or Paik Seung Ho cannot join. However, coach Kim Hak Bum still aims to win the title, thereby getting the ticket to the Olympic Tokyo 2020.
