A draw against Vietnam is a failure, says Jordan U23 team coach

After the match between Vietnam and Jordan, the Jordan U23 team manager Ahmed Abdel-Qader said that his players were worth of gaining a victory instead of a draw.

"In the first half, we missed five chances to score the opening goal, but we did not take advantage of them", said coach Ahmed Abdel-Qader. Consequently, gaining just one point from the match against the Vietnam U23 team was not the result that he expected.

According to the head coach of the Jordan U23 team, they would have had a victory instead of a draw, making them become the first team in Group D that advance to the quarter-finals.

However, they just need one more point in the last game against UAE U23 to qualify the group stage, scoring at least one goal to fortify that result.

The comment of Ahmed Abdel-Qader showed that the Vietnam U23 team in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship was not a strong team as many people thought before kicking off the tournament. Alongside China U23, Vietnam was one of two teams that were unable to score any goal after 2 fixtures.

Speaking about that, coach Park Hang Seo thought his players were afraid of shooting, which made them miss many chances to score against UAE and Jordan. However, their opponents also have their reason to regret the results.

Although Park's comment pointed out a serious problem of the Vietnam U23 team in the tournament, it seemed that he tried to avoid speaking about the poor performance of defenders. In both games, Park had to substitute players in the defensive line to resist the attacks from the opponents.
