AFC Cup 2020: Kaya FC-Iloilo 0-0 Tampines Rovers: The Stags' domination fails to convert

Kaya FC-Iloilo have successfully kept a point back at Rizal Memorial Stadium in the tie against Tampines Rovers in matchday 2 of the AFC Cup 2020 group H.

Singapore’s Tampines Rovers dominated the game right from the beginning with the possession rate of 74%. The numbers accurately tell how the game happened as most of the noticeable plays took place on the Kaya FC-Iloilo’s half.

Tampines Rovers had their first chance to open the deadlock at the 14th minute when Syahrul Sazali produced a beautiful long pass to the position of Jordon Webb. The star striker broke free from the defender but hit the ball just over the bar.

In terms of Kaya FC-Iloilo, the Filipino side had the only somewhat dangerous strike in the entire game at the 28th minute with an attempt that just missed the right post from the free kick of Jayson Panhay.

The game resumed in the second half with a similar situation as in the first one with the dominance of Tampines Rovers. The Stags continued to create some great chances, including a 1v1 chance with the Kaya FC-Iloilo’s goalkeeper but Boris Kopitovic failed to connect.

The rest of the game witnessed the efforts to increase the pressure of Tampines Rovers. However, they could not succeed even once and the tie ended goallessly.
