FC Seoul vs Chiangrai United match postponed due to coronavirus outbreak

To prevent the outbreak of coronavirus epidemic in South Korea, the match between FC Seoul and Chiangrai United was canceled.

Initially, FC Seoul was scheduled to take on the Thai Premier League champion Chiangrai United on March 3. However, after considering the current situation, AFC decided to reschedule the game.

In the letter written and sent by AFC general secretary Windsor John to the FAT general secretary Korrawee Prissananantakul, he said:

"We have taken note of the request from your affiliated club, Chiangrai United to postpone the upcoming match scheduled to be played in Seoul, Korea Republic and taking into consideration all the points raised, the AFC has now decided to postpone the match until further notice".

At the moment, Chiangrai United is standing at the bottom place of Group E in the 2020 AFC Champions League, losing back-to-back matches against Melbourne Victory and Beijing FC.

Meanwhile, FC Seoul is the leading team despite playing just one game when they have beaten the Australian side to stand at the top of the table.

In the past, the best achievement of FC Seoul in the AFC Champions League editions was to advance to the final match of the 2002 and 2013 events.

In terms of Chiangrai United, it is the first time that they compete at the final tournament after being eliminated at the play-off round of 2018 and 2019 events.
