D'Angelo Russelll head to the Timberwolves, another NBA title candidate appear?

There was a time when D'Angelo Russell expressed his desire to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves, so what will really happen if that comes true?

With a record of 10-18 and currently ranked 10/15 in the West, it is clear that the current situation of the team from Minnesota Timberwolves is not positive. For that reason, the management of the team is extremely impatient to bring valuable contracts in order to improve the position on the rankings, thereby reaching the playoffs.

Indeed, although Karl-Athony Towns and Andrew Wiggins are in stable form at the team, it seems that  Minnesota still lacks a standard key player to help the team further up in the future.

A few months ago, Minnesota Timberwolves had some contacts with potential superstars that could be brought back in the upcoming February transfer and one of them was a player playing at Golden State Warriors - D Angelo Russell.

According to the journalist Mandela Namaste of Bleacher Report, he made his comments on this exchange deal. More specifically, Minnesota Timberwolves will take on D'Angelo Russell and Alec Burks, in exchange for Robert Covington, Gorgui Dieng, a potential pick in the first round and two options in the second round in the future.

If this deal is successful, Timberwolves would extremely get benefits as almost everyone knows the strength of D'Angelo Russell over the years. In addition, D'Angelo Russell's transfer to Wolves will inadvertently create a potential "Big 3" in the future with an average age of 24.

Furthermore, with a diverse and effective attack in the far end, D'Angelo Russell will surely be the main card of the Ryan Saunders' team in the future as a defender. Up to this point, D'Angelo Russell is giving a nice performance of 21.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists along with 42.4% of FG and 34.8% of 3PT.

In that context, the system will succeed if the team focuses on the trio Russell, Towns and Wiggins. If that happens, Mandela Namaste asserts that the NBA will have one more candidate for the title in the next few years.

In the opposite direction, this deal will bring benefits to both sides. Pushing Russell away, Warriors will get a solid 3-and-D player in midfield - that was the position of former veteran Andre Iguodala.

Robert Covington with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green will certainly be a good squad for Warriors if they want to regain their strong position in the past.
