Nguyen Tien Minh won the badminton tournament 2019 Lagos Challenge Nigeria

On the evening of July 27th, Vietnam No. 1 player Nguyen Tien Minh won the men's singles Lagos International Classics Badminton Championship 2019, taking place in Nigeria after winning the first seed player in the final.

The final match of the tournament is the confrontation between the top two seeds - Nguyen Tien Minh (59th rank in the world, 36 years old) and Misha Zilberman (Israel, rank 44 world, 30 years). In the past, Nguyen Tien Minh defeated his opponent in the 2011 World Championship, but in this rematch, the Vietnamese player was underestimated Misha Zilberman not only because of his rank and age but also his performance.

Before entering the final match, Misha Zilberman only lost 1 set in the first round, besides the easy victories in the quarterfinals and semi-finals. Meanwhile, Nguyen Tien Minh had to step into the third set twice, along with the rather difficult victories.

True to the nature of the finals of the top 2 players, the match took place intriguing and struggling in 2 sets, though in decisive times, Nguyen Tien Minh was a better competitor to take turns victory 21/18 and 25/23 after 1 hour 5 minutes of competition, thereby winning the championship.

This is Nguyen Tien Minh's third international title in 2019, before the 36-year-old from Ho Chi Minh City player won two consecutive International Series championships in New Zealand in early April. In addition, Nguyen Tien Minh also won a bronze medal in the Asian Championship in late April in Wuhan (China).
